Necessity is the mother of all
RE-invention

Portland, OR, August, 2007
This November, Leatherman Tool Group will introduce the new Skeletool™. This new platform—the fusion of a pocket knife and pliers tool—will redefine the pocket-survival-tool category Leatherman itself invented, 25 years ago.
Today’s outdoor enthusiasts want to keep weight and volume to a minimum without sacrificing quality and true functionality. While multi-tools have multiple options, they’re often heavier with more features than are used on a regular basis. Conversely, pocket knives are light and streamlined, but render themselves useless when necessary adjustments call for a tool. Enter the new Skeletool: Minimal weight, compact size and endless capabilities.
Whether you’re hunting, snowboarding, mountain biking, or four-wheeling there are just some things you can’t do without. “We could all agree that a quality knife, strong pliers and a good screwdriver were the perfect mix. Everyone actually agreeing on how that would look…That was when the fun really started,” said Sr. Design Engineer John Nenadic. “I think we’ve definitely came up with a very cool and functional design.”
Skeletool’s outside-accessible blade means, just like a pocket knife, it can be opened quickly with one hand. Bit driver technology makes it possible to customize the tool for any job. Take either one of the bits that comes with the tool, and can be stored in the handles, or integrate the Leatherman bit kit (sold separately) and there are upwards of 42 Hex, Robertson, Pozi, Torx, Phillips and Slotted bit options. Full-size pliers with wire cutters and folding handles—as only Leatherman can engineer them—are strong, comfortable and easy-to-use.
Two versions of the tool, Skeletool and Skeletool CX will begin shipping in November 2007(review samples available prior) for distribution worldwide. Skeletool MSRP will be $72.00 and Skeletool CX MSRP will be $96.00 and both will be covered under Leatherman’s 25-year warranty.
